Trump Business Sought to Bring In Nearly 200 Employees on Work Permits in 2025
Donald Trump’s family business increased its recruitment of foreign workers on temporary visas this year, even as his administration was creating barriers for other businesses attempting to do the identical, a report released recently stated.
Based on data from the federal labor department, the business sought to bring in at least 184 overseas employees in the coming year for temporary positions at the former president’s Florida property, golf facilities and his Virginia winery.
The quantity of requests for H-2A and H-2B visas covering workers including servers, clerks, housekeepers, kitchen staff and farm workers was the highest ever filed by the company, and increased from 121 in 2021, when his presidency ended.
It was also the fifth time in a decade that the former president had attempted to bring in more than 100 foreign employees for temporary positions at his Florida resort, according to available data.
The revelation coincides with a crackdown on legal immigration by his administration that has included the introduction of a substantial charge on skilled worker visas; extra scrutiny of the actions of the 55 million people who possess American work permits; and tighter regulations for foreign students and journalists.
Overall, the Trump Organization aimed to employ over 560 foreign laborers over the period the former president has been in the White House, from his first term and during 2025.
Significantly, the former president was criticized by certain in the Republican party this period for remarks justifying the necessity for foreign workers when a business was unable to find people with “particular skills” to fill certain positions.
“You can’t just say a country is coming in, going to spend billions to build a plant, and going to recruit individuals off an unemployment line who have been unemployed in years, and they’re going to start producing their defense systems. It doesn’t work that well,” he stated to a host after it was implied that overseas employees lower the pay of American employees.
The White House refused a inquiry for comment, and the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to an inquiry.
