Over a fortnight following the shocking loss of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the pair.
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt ready to post publicly about his profound loss.
"Enough time has elapsed that I can finally put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced spending more time together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the film, commenting that he could not remember "any day without joy".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob cherished deeply. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes expressed.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
In a different tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he comprehended the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese noted.
This week, a Los Angeles court official ruled to prevent the disclosure of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, following a petition from the local authorities.
A court order put a security hold on the cases to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" pertaining to the active case.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the result of homicide, with a record noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
In the wake of the tragedy, public figures shared divergent comments.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, offering provocative remarks that were met with immediate backlash by many individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the detractors last week. Talking on his show, Rogan labeled the statements as "disappointing" and implied they revealed a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan ended by suggesting that an adviser could have intervened when the impulse to comment on the death was made.
