The striker has signed with the Championship side just seven months after leading derogatory taunts targeting the team's coach, Chris Wilder.
This experienced striker, a free agent after departing from Leeds, has agreed to a deal joining the Championship club in difficulty until January. His seven-year time with Leeds was ended amicably this past summer.
One of the player's last memorable actions while at Leeds was to lead abusive chants about Wilder amid Leeds' promotion celebrations this spring. Now, the one-cap England player will be playing for Wilder as the Blades’ manager aims to rescue his beloved club out of the drop zone.
Both men had a past before Leeds earned promotion to the top flight the previous campaign while Sheffield United lost the playoff final by Sunderland. Wilder described Bamford as a "muppet" back when the roles were reversed in 2018-19 and Sheffield United secured direct promotion whereas Leeds missed out in the promotion playoffs.
Everything seems has been resolved with Sheffield United, the Championship’s lowest scorers, urgently requiring of improvement up front and Bamford hoping to rejuvenate his career.
The song about Wilder went viral this spring. A repentant Bamford along with Leeds boss, Daniel Farke, called the Sheffield United manager the following day.
Wilder said at the time: “Spoke with Pat recently and I have no problem whatsoever with it. I'm uncertain regarding the language from a fellow professional! But I appreciated and respected him calling me.
“We spent a short while and similarly I talked with Daniel Farke too and we had a longer discussion with him and he's a super guy, a top guy. When I was playing we would give it and accept it and that is an integral part of the game at every level, even on a Sunday morning. I've got absolutely no issue. I'm fine with it and I said that to Patrick.”
The forward made 18 appearances with Leeds United in the previous campaign however the former Nottingham Forest, Chelsea & Middlesbrough player has struggled with injury over the past few seasons.
