The daughter of ex- South African Head of State Jacob G Zuma has denied all charges to terrorism-related accusations at the commencement of her court case in the harbor city of Durban.
Zuma-Sambudla, 43, is being charged over remarks she posted on digital networks four years ago during deadly unrest in South Africa that occurred subsequent to the apprehension of her parent.
A seven-day period of disorder in several parts of the country in July 2021, including theft and intentional burning, left at least three hundred dead and caused damage worth an estimated $2.8bn (£2.2bn).
She has been alleged of encouraging this unrest and faces accusations of encouragement to commit terror acts and public disorder.
The protests were concentrated in the areas of Gauteng region and KwaZulu-Natal and followed the former president's apprehension for disobeying a legal directive to testify at an investigation into accusations of graft while he was serving as president.
Ms Zuma-Sambudla has repeatedly denied the accusations against her, with her lawyer previously calling the government's legal argument as weak.
She has also consistently claimed the allegations against her were an effort to address political grievances with her father after he founded his own political party and ran against the African National Congress.
This was supported by the Zuma foundation, which said the legal matter was an "power abuse" and a "organized effort" of "politically motivated and familial persecution" against the ex-leader and his kin.
A few of supporters from her party, uMkhonto weSizwe, appeared outside the provincial high court, while her father and other group representatives participated in the hearings inside.
The defense has argued that the testimony presented by the state is unconvincing and fails to provide compelling evidence for a guilty verdict.
The legal proceedings continues as both sides present their arguments before the court in what is projected to be a closely watched judicial process with substantial politically charged ramifications for South Africa.
