Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Posted on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver missed the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
