The 43rd yearly Golden Joystick Awards took place recently, and through an impressive performance, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed the title of the most decorated winner. The breakout role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive won the esteemed Ultimate Game of the Year award, along with prizes for Outstanding Narrative and Best Visual Design.
Adding to the studio's triumph, its skilled actors also were honored with individual awards. Jennifer English was named Top Lead Actor for her portrayal as Maelle, while Ben Starr won Supporting Performance Award for his role as Verso. Furthermore, Sandfall Interactive the studio was honored as Studio of the Year. In total, Clair Obscur and its creative team collected 7 awards throughout the event.
Other notable winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which was awarded Best Audio Design and Top Console Title, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, winning Top Self-Published Indie and Premier PC Title. Worth mentioning, the bulk of Golden Joystick Awards are selected by the audience, with only 4 awards—Critics Choice, Rising Star, Hall of Fame inductee, and Streamer Selection—determined by experts.
