Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil represent the initial names in the frame to replace Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.

Pereira was dismissed on the weekend after the team's ten-game without a victory beginning to the Premier League season.

And Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have previous associations to the club - are among the options to be considered by the Wolves leadership.

Edwards is presently at Middlesbrough, which would create a possible hurdle to his appointment at Molineux.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton manager - who played more than 100 of appearances for Wolves during his time as a player - is said to be a strong contender for the position.

The 42-year-old is said to have support from the club directors as they start the process of appointing a fresh head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise contender, although he would be a shock appointment given he was released by the club in the previous winter.

The former West Ham United player is out of work which means the club would not need to pay any compensation.
