Barça Set to Play Inaugural Game at Upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend
Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in La Liga two and a half years after they moved out for construction to commence.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Not all seats will be available with 45,401 fans can be present as per the current authorization. After final construction, the stadium’s capacity will reach almost 105,000 spectators, increasing from the former 99,000. Barça announced recent additions comprise an updated entryway for the team along with upgraded changing facilities.
Stadium Testing
The club conducted an open training session at the Camp Nou earlier this month. The club said approval is being pursued from European football’s governing body to host the next European match facing Eintracht on 9 December in the renovated venue. They have been hosting matches at the Olympic Stadium.
