Adult Swim's Premier New Show of 2025 Earns a Substantial Renewal for Seasons 2 and 3.

Last October, the late-night programming block welcomed back its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. But, shortly thereafter, the network introduced a brand-new animated series with a strikingly different tone. Haha, You Clowns emerged as sweet and soothing, reminiscent of a animated take of a serene talk show. In an era often defined by bleakness, this show's earnestness struck a chord and helped it become a surprise hit.

A Major Commitment

On December 18th, Adult Swim confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for a further two seasons. This offers creator Joe Cappa ample opportunity to develop the story of the Campbell family. The series follows three polite teenage brothers whose primary trait is their strong bond for their single father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four main characters.

"I am incredibly thankful to the viewers of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and helped it grow," said Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for seasons to come."

Executive Acclaim

In the same announcement praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and uniquely eerie." He specifically highlighted the fans who embraced the show and supported its distinctly quirky appeal.

"All of you supported this new show, rooted for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a wholesome alternative" to more cynical adult animated fare. There’s something surprisingly comfy about watching this charming family go about their everyday routines.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa stated his goal to help comedy break out of its long-running layer of irony. He traced this trend to a broader media landscape.

“There's this level of irony that we are trapped in,” noted Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we need to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

Future Seasons

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa could potentially help usher in that very evolution. Or at the very least, the renewal ensures audiences a little more time to enjoy the heartfelt moments of the unique Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. All episodes is ready to watch on HBO Max.
